How to Refill an Ink Cartridge on a Canon Pixma

Here we gave you all instructions to refill the ink cartridge on a Canon Pixma printer. Read all important instructions from the bottom.

1- Expose the Cap on the Empty Cartridge

Remove the label from the top of the empty cartridge. You want to expose the round plastic cap. This is where the ink is injected.

2- Secure the Orange Cartridge Cap

Place the orange plastic cartridge cap on the bottom of the cartridge and secure it with a rubber band. The plastic cap was included with the cartridge when you purchased it. If you lose or throw it away, use a piece of cardboard. This prevents ink from seeping down while filling.

3- Enlarge the Hole at the Top of the Cartridge

Using the enlargement tool that came with your kit, enlarge the small hole in the plastic cap at the top of the cartridge. If there is no stray or enlargement tool, heat a small screw with a lighter and screw it into the cap. Use pliers to remove the screw and the plug will come out with it.

4- Fill the Syringe with Ink

Fill the supplied syringe with ink following the kit manufacturer’s instructions. Some kits include pre-loaded syringes for you.

5- Fill the Cartridge Using the Syringe

Pour ink into the cartridge using the refill syringe and the hole you just enlarged or made.

6- Let the Excess Ink Drip Off

Remove the plastic cover from the bottom of the cartridge and allow the excess ink to drip off.

7- Replace the Plastic Stopper

If you have removed it before, replace the plastic cap with the plastic end of the syringe plunger. Remove the plunger from the syringe and insert the small end of the plastic into the hole at the top of the cartridge. Pull the plunger out of the small end of the plastic, making sure the plastic stays in the hole in the cartridge.

8- Place the Cartridge into the Chip Reset Device

Place the cartridge into the chip reset device and wait for it to flash or beep, depending on the model. The cartridge is ready to be inserted and used in your printer.
